Former Washington running back Will Nixon has transferred to Syracuse, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Nixon is the son of new SU offensive coordinator Jeff Nixon.
In 2023, Nixon appeared in all 15 games, totaling 201 rushing yards on 33 attempts. Out of the backfield, he tallied 13 receptions for 84 yards. He totaled one rushing touchdown in sparse action.
A year prior in 2022, Nixon saw even fewer attempts, rushing for 89 yards on 21 attempts while having just 66 receiving yards. Before playing for the Huskies, he played as a wide receiver for two years at Nebraska, appearing in just three games. In his first year with the Huskers in 2020, Nixon suffered a season-ending injury the summer before the season.
Nixon joins his father Jeff with the Orange, who formerly served as the New York Giants’ running backs coach. He joins a backfield that currently has five running backs on the spring roster, including LeQuint Allen Jr., Jaden Hart, Yasin Willis, Juwaun Price and Tyler Chandler.
