Kate Costello-Sullivan, Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at Le Moyne; Thomas Brockelman, Interim Provost at Le Moyne; Liz Liddy, Interim Vice Chancellor and Provost at SU; Mary Collins, Associate Provost at Le Moyne; and Jeff Stanton, Interim Dean at the iSchool gather to make the partnership between the two schools official.

The School of Information Studies at Syracuse University and Le Moyne College have announced a further partnership for accelerated graduate degree programs.

The agreement, which builds upon a 2011 agreement between the two institutions, allows Le Moyne students to work toward a master’s degree at the iSchool while still studying at Le Moyne. The students would graduate in five years with two degrees, a bachelor’s degree from Le Moyne and a master’s from SU.

The two Syracuse schools signed an initial agreement in 2011, which allowed Le Moyne students in two degree programs to take information management master’s courses at the iSchool in their senior year. Now, any Le Moyne students can take iSchool classes in information management and the additional program — library and information science.

Le Moyne students will still complete their first year of graduate work at SU during their senior year at Le Moyne.

Since the original 2011 agreement, 15 Le Moyne graduates have enrolled in the iSchool’s master’s program in information management, according to an iSchool press release.

“Through this partnership, we hope to attract students from various disciplines to learn to address the information opportunities and challenges in their defined fields,” said SU Interim Vice Chancellor and Provost Liz Liddy in a press release.

Interim iSchool Dean Jeff Stanton said the school expects strong interest in the expanded program.
