SA Briefs: 4 takeaways from Nov. 30 meeting

Here are four takeaways from Monday night’s Student Association meeting in Maxwell Auditorium:
1. No word on bus refund
Prompted by an assembly member, SA President Aysha Seedat did not say whether students who were on an SA-sponsored bus that broke down Sunday will be refunded. The bus, which came from Union Station in Washington, D.C., broke down near Binghamton around 6 p.m. Students were prohibited from exiting the bus until a second bus arrived.
2. Stipends funded
The assembly voted to fully fund stipends for Seedat, Vice President Jane Hong and Comptroller Phil Kramer. Seedat and Kramer will each receive $2,500, and Hong will receive $1,500.
3. Carrier Dome accessibility
Hong is continuing to work to make the Carrier Dome more easily accessible for people with disabilities. She is “utilizing an outside corporation” to assess the Dome’s accessibility and plans to collaborate with SU Athletics on making it more accessible, she said.
4. Mental Health Awareness Campaign
Hong and Seedat plan to launch a Mental Health Awareness Campaign week at SU next semester. The purpose of the campaign, which Hong said will closely mirror the It’s On Us campaign, will be to promote further discussions on depression and other mental health issues, which Hong said are common at SU.
