Some SU buildings lose power, hot water as result of power outage

UPDATED: Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015 at 11:27 p.m.

Several buildings on the Syracuse University campus experienced power outages Saturday morning, which caused some residential buildings to lose hot water. The power was restored Saturday afternoon.

The University Avenue Garage, 200 Walnut Place, 310 Walnut Place, the Schine Student Center, Faculty Center, 700 University Ave., Bird Library, the Martin J. Whitman School of Management and the Chilled Water Plant were all affected by the power outage, according to an SU News release.

There were also reports of several students not having access to hot water in the Ernie Davis and DellPlain residence halls.

A representative from SU FIXit said the power outage at the Chilled Water Plant caused some SU dorms to lose hot water. The representative said she could not confirm which buildings had lost hot water.

SU FIXit tweeted that hot water should be working in 40 to 60 minutes at 12:57 p.m.

As of 1:23 p.m. on Saturday some of the buildings affected by the power outage had their power restored, according to the release.

SU updated the news release around 1:45 p.m. saying that National Grid crews had restored power to all of the parts of the SU campus that had been disrupted by the power outage earlier that day.
