Campus Brief: Public Safety union rejects 3-year agreement
Union members of Syracuse University’s Department of Public Safety voted against a proposed three-year contract with the university Wednesday, said Public Safety Interim Chief Tony Callisto.
Union representatives met with the university several times throughout the past couple of months and came up with a tentative contract that had to be voted on, said Callisto, who was not involved in the negotiations.
‘Apparently the Public Safety members weren’t satisfied,’ Callisto said.
Callisto said he wasn’t sure what would happen next, but said he suspects the union will ask the university to sit down again and continue negotiations.
‘We are certainly willing to negotiate,’ he said.
