Weekend Plans: Celebrate Earth Day and Holi
Daily Orange file photo
Whether you’re celebrating Earth Day, Holi or both this weekend, there’s an event for you on Syracuse University’s campus.
Earthfest
Celebrate Earth Day this year by attending Earthfest, a sustainably-themed, community-wide art and music festival. Stop by this Sunday at the Thorndon Park Amphitheater between noon and 6 p.m. or start the event off earlier by waking up with some yoga at 11:30 a.m. There will be art installations, local food and craft vendors, student organizations, prominent speakers and live bands for entertainment.
Make-a-Wish Color Run 2016
Saturday at 11 a.m., the 5k run will start at Schine Student Center. Wishmakers On Campus is hosting the run, and the organization is using the event to fundraise for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Registration will start at 10:30 outside of Schine Student Center. Registration costs $30 and can be completed online, as well. They will also be giving away T-shirts on a first come first serve basis.
Holi
Celebrate Holi — the Hindu spring holiday for the festival of colors — this Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Women’s Building with the SU South Asian Students Association. Expect there to be a DJ, snacks and water guns.
