FB : Arkansas wide receiver Funderburk expected to transfer to Syracuse
Syracuse’s wide receiving corps received a boost on Wednesday, as Quinta Funderburk plans to transfer from Arkansas to play for the Orange.
Richard Morgan, who coached the four-star wideout at Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, Va., told Rivals.com that Funderburk will arrive at SU on Saturday to begin summer school.
As a senior at Oscar Smith, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound receiver caught 65 passes for 1,464 yards and 15 touchdowns, following up a junior season in which he finished with 62 receptions for 1,150 yards and 12 touchdowns. Scout.com rated Funderburk No. 35 in the class of 2011 wide receiver rankings.
He graduated from high school early, and enrolled with Arkansas in January of 2011 before leaving the team during spring practice to return to his home in Virginia. Funderburk rejoined the Razorbacks in the fall and redshirted his freshman season.
Funderburk is now expected to join a Syracuse team that now has a variety of weapons at the wide receiving position with top returners Marcus Sales and Alec Lemon.
