Alexis Peterson, who was named a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award, has Syracuse rolling to No. 20 in the country.

Two more conference wins has bumped up Syracuse to No. 20 in the Week 14 Associated Press Top 25 poll. The Orange (17-7, 8-3 Atlantic Coast) had gone four weeks without getting ranked until it placed No. 24 in last Monday’s poll.

Thursday night, SU beat Pittsburgh by 28 points behind Briana Day’s career-high 31 points. Sunday afternoon at Boston College, Syracuse cruised to a 72-45 victory, its fourth straight.

Seven ACC teams placed in this week’s Top 25: No. 5 Florida State, No. 7 Notre Dame, No. 12 Louisville, No. 14 Duke, No. 16 Miami, No. 17 North Carolina State and No. 20 Syracuse. SU, which hosts the No. 7 Fighting Irish on Feb. 19, is 3-2 against ACC teams in the Top 25.

Also on Monday, senior point guard Alexis Peterson was named one of 10 finalists for the Nancy Lieberman Award, which goes to the nation’s top point guard. Her 23.7 points per game leads the conference. Her 7.2 assists and 3.3 steals per game each ranks second in the ACC.

This week, SU plays at No. 14 Duke Friday night and hosts unranked North Carolina Sunday afternoon.
