Syracuse will host the Maryland Terrapins sometime in late November for the ACC-Big Ten Challenge, SU Athletics announced on Thursday morning.
All specific dates and times for the Challenge will be announced later.
Last season, Maryland finished 24-9 and 12-6 in the Big Ten. The Terrapins lost to Xavier in the first round of the NCAA tournament. UM will be without its star guard Melo Trimble for the first time in three years. In March, he declared for the NBA Draft and hired an agent.
Last season, Syracuse finished 18-13 and 10-8 in conference. SU lost in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament to Mississippi.
Maryland holds a 5-3 advantage all-time against Syracuse. They last met in 2013-14, Syracuse’s one season in the ACC with Maryland before the Terrapins moved to the Big Ten. SU, ranked No. 4 at the time, beat Maryland on the road, 57-55.
Syracuse last hosted the Terrapins in the Carrier Dome during the 2008 NIT. SU won, 88-72. Back then, the Orange was still in the Big East and Maryland, the ACC.
The Orange is 1-3 all-time in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge in its four years in the ACC. SU beat Indiana in 2013-14, then lost at Michigan, hosting Wisconsin and at Wisconsin last season.
The only school not included in the Challenge was Pittsburgh. All ACC-Big Ten Challenge games will be televised on either ESPN or ESPN2.
