FB : Miami Central linebacker Hodge commits to SU
Syracuse received a verbal commitment from Miami Central High School linebacker Marqez Hodge on Wednesday, according to Scout.com.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Hodge turned down offers from Minnesota, Marshall and Western Kentucky before deciding to commit to Syracuse, according to Scout.com. He recorded 47 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble as a junior, but did not have a rating on Scout.com or Rivals.com.
Hodge becomes the fifth member of SU’s class of 2013, joining quarterbacks Austin Wilson and Zach Allen, tight end Tyler Provo and defensive tackle Wayne Williams. Hodge is also the second commit from Florida, with Provo coming out of American Heritage School in Delray Beach, Fla.
With the addition of Hodge, Miami Central is well represented on Syracuse’s roster. Safety Durell Eskridge and linebacker Oliver Vigille, who will both be sophomores this season, are products of the school.
The SU coaching staff has also reportedly extended an offer to Hodge’s former teammate and current Hialeah-Miami Lakes High School linebacker Devante Duclos. But according to Scout.com, he has not committed to SU yet.
