After strong performances in the Harvard Crimson Elite Invitational on Friday, Syracuse again found success on the track, this time at the 2018 Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational. However, perhaps the team’s most impressive feat of the day came from Justyn Knight, last week’s ACC Indoor Track Performer of the Week, in the 3000-meter race at the New York Road Runners Millrose Games. Knight, the only collegiate runner in his race, went up against multiple Olympians and still finished second with a time of 7:45.86.
Meanwhile, in Boston, Kadejhia Sellers finished second in the women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 54.07 seconds, the best of all collegiate runners. After winning the women’s long jump at Harvard yesterday, Aviana Goode finished third in the high jump with a height of 1.65 meters.
The women also had strong performances in the 200-meter dash as Eunice Boateng finished third with a time of 23.92 seconds. Imani Clark finished right behind her in fourth at 23.94 seconds. In the 4×400-meter relay, the team of Danielle Delgado, Alexis Harper, Tia Thevenin and Sellers placed fifth overall with a time of 3:40.78.
On the men’s side, the best performances came in the high jump and 60-meter hurdles. In the high jump, Randall Johnson finished fourth at a height of 1.95 meters. The only Syracuse men’s runner to qualify for the 60-meter hurdles final was Chevis Armstead, who finished fourth in men’s hurdles with a time of 8.09 seconds. The team of Jamil Adams, Pascal Bastien, Armstead and Matt Moore placed sixth in the 4×400 relay with a time of 3:16.97.
Next weekend, the Orange will head to Boston again for the 2018 BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
