Syracuse (3-0) dropped two spots to No. 7 in this week’s Inside Lacrosse women’s poll.
The drop comes following a 19-12 win over Albany in which the Orange went on a 12-2 run to start the match.
In the game, draw specialist Morgan Widner suffered a non-contact injury that was revealed to be an ACL and meniscus tear. In Widner, the Orange lost one of its only two players who has taken a draw all season, with Julie Cross the lone player remaining draw-control specialist.
Stony Brook is the new leader of the poll, jumping one spot from No. 2, replacing last week’s No. 1 team, Maryland, which dropped three spots to No. 4 following a 16-15 overtime loss to No. 3 North Carolina.
SU returns to action Sunday when it opens its Atlantic Coast Conference schedule against No. 11 Virginia.
