Former Syracuse wide receiver Steve Ishmael signed as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday, as reported by NFL Network. He joins his SU teammate, Zaire Franklin, who was drafted in the seventh round of the NFL Draft by the Colts. Overall the two former Orange, along with Ervin Philips and Jamar McGloster, have been acquired by NFL teams on Saturday.

Ishmael is Syracuse’s all-time leader in receiving yardage and finished second in program history in catches behind Philips. Ishmael broke the Syracuse career receiving yards record in his final game, breaking the mark previously held by Marvin Harrison. Now, Ishmael has signed with the same team that drafted Harrison in the first round in 1996.

In 2017, Ishmael and Philips set an ACC record with the most combined receptions by a pair of teammates. Ishmael contributed 105 receptions to that record, going with Philips’ 89. The Associated Press named Ishmael a third-team All-American after the season.

Prior to signing Ishmael after the NFL Draft concluded, the Colts had picked two wideouts in the draft itself: Daurice Fountain from Northern Iowa and Deon Cain from Clemson.
