Two South Campus apartments burglarized
Two Syracuse University student apartments at 210 Small Road were broken into Saturday.
Though the Department of Public Safety confirmed nothing was stolen, the incident was still classified as a burglary because the apartment was broken into, said Sgt. Charles Fiesinger.
DPS did not provide details of when the burglary occurred, when the incident was called in or when police responded. The department would not confirm if any suspects had been identified.
Sgt. Tom Connellan of the Syracuse Police Department could not identify a police report or confirm the incident as of Monday afternoon, although Fiesinger said SPD reported to the scene.
Residents of apartments 5 and 8 confirmed that nothing was stolen, and two of the males living in apartment 8 refused further comment.
Lindsay McCreary, one of the three females living in apartment 5, said she noticed at 1 p.m. Saturday that her apartment’s back screen and glass doors were open. The sophomore health and exercise science major said the residents in her apartment weren’t the ones who called DPS.
Fiesinger did not identify who reported the incident to DPS.
The case was forwarded to DPS’s investigations unit and SPD’s criminal investigations division. Fiesinger could not comment on the next steps for the investigation.
A report was not available on DPS’s online crime log as of Monday night.
