Syracuse (8-4, 2-2 Atlantic Coast) dropped two spots from No. 25 to No. 27 in the Oracle/ITA team rankings released on Tuesday. The Orange won both of their matches last weekend but dropped in the rankings for the third-consecutive time.
After it peaked at No. 10 in the Jan. 30 rankings, SU has gradually moved down before falling out of the top 25 this week. A four-match losing streak between Feb. 1 and Feb. 10 was the main reason for the drop.
Last Friday, Syracuse traveled to Louisville and defeated the Cardinals, 6-1, and followed with a 4-3 win over Notre Dame on Sunday. They were the first two conference wins of the season for the Orange.
Gabriela Knutson won both of her singles matches last weekend to extend her singles winning streak to six and has not lost since Feb. 3 against Boston College. The Orange also won both of the doubles points over the weekend and has now won four consecutive doubles points since dropping five in a row earlier in the season.
SU doesn’t play again until Sunday, when it continues a four-game road trip against No. 35 Georgia Tech (4-4, 1-0). Last year, SU defeated the then-No. 3 Yellow Jackets, 4-3, for the program’s first win over a top-10 school.
