Syracuse (8-4, 1-2 Atlantic Coast) dropped one spot to No. 15 in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll following a 3-1 loss to No. 1 North Carolina on Oct. 12.
The Orange held the Tar Heels to only three shots after the first quarter, but couldn’t find the back of the cage until early in the fourth quarter. SU entered the matchup having won five of its last seven matches, including wins over No. 4 Duke and No. 12 St. Joseph’s.
SU travels to No. 13 Boston College on Friday, where two of the ACC’s top freshman, SU’s Charlotte de Vries and BC’s Margo Carlin, will face off. While de Vries leads the conference in game-winning goals, Carlin has scored two more goals in two more games than the Conestoga (Pennsylvania) High School graduate.
On Sunday, SU will venture south to face the 2017 National Champions, No. 3 Connecticut.
