Syracuse’s Sunday matchup against Boston College has been postponed due to a positive COVID-19 test in the Syracuse program, according to a Saturday release from SU Athletics. All team-related activities are paused, and the team has begun contact tracing.

The Orange are 2-7-4 on the season, with a 2-4-2 record in the spring. Syracuse’s last win came in a 1-0 victory over Saint Francis on Tuesday, with Deandre Kerr scoring SU’s only goal. SFU was the Orange’s final nonconference opponent of the season, and they shot a season-high 18 shots. The shutout for Syracuse was its second this spring season and the second in goalie Russell Shealy’s career. Before the Orange’s win over Saint Francis, they lost 2-1 on the road to North Carolina State.

SU has had five games canceled in its 2020-21 season. With the matchup against the Eagles postponed, the Orange are set to face Wake Forest at home on April 9 for the final game of the season.

This is the first game of any Syracuse sport canceled this spring due to a positive COVID-19 test, although the volleyball team missed two games earlier this spring due to a positive test on an opponent’s team. The last time a game was postponed due to a positive test in a Syracuse program was when the women’s basketball team missed three games in December and January.
