Syracuse adds Central Connecticut to nonconference schedule
The Syracuse men’s basketball team will host Central Connecticut in a New Year’s Eve matchup, SU athletics announced in a press release Monday.
This will be the first time the two teams have played each other.
Central Connecticut is coming off a 13-16 season, and it went 10-8 in the Northeast Conference. Blue Devils head coach Howie Dickenman, a former assistant at UConn, is going into his 17th season at Central Connecticut.
This is the eighth nonconference game the Orange has on its schedule. All but one of the games are home games. Here’s the rest of the nonconference slate:
Nov. 9 Battle on the Midway vs. San Diego State
Nov. 18 Wagner
Nov. 21 Princeton
Nov. 25 Colgate
Nov. 30 SEC/Big East Challenge at Arkansas
Dec. 3 Eastern Michigan
Dec. 6 Long Beach State
Dec. 30 Central Connecticut
The Big East pairings have been announced, but dates and times for the conference schedule have not.
Syracuse will host Cincinnati, DePaul, Georgetown, Louisville, Notre Dame, Providence, Rutgers, St. John’s and Villanova.
The Orange will travel to face Connecticut, Georgetown, Louisville, Marquette, Pittsburgh, Providence, Seton Hall, South Florida and Villanova.
