Deangelo Thompson Jr. flips commitment from FAU to Syracuse

Deangelo Thompson Jr. announced his commitment to Syracuse on social media Monday morning. He was previously committed to Florida Atlantic, but 247Sports reports the Owls’ coaching change prompted him to “look around” at other programs. The Miami, Florida, native took an official visit to SU last weekend.

Thompson Jr. is rated as a three-star edge rusher by 247Sports and becomes the 31st player in SU’s 2025 recruiting class. Syracuse boasts 247Sports’ 37th-best recruiting class and its 31 commits are the most in the country.
The edge rusher attends Northwestern High School (Florida). In an X post, Thompson Jr. implied he’s trying to initiate a Miami recruiting pipeline to SU. His 247Sports profile page lists him as 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds.
