Former Syracuse center J’Onre Reed announced on social media Wednesday that he is transferring to USC. Reed entered the portal on Dec. 31 after the NCAA granted former JUCO players an extra year of eligibility.
Reed spent his first two collegiate seasons at Hutchinson Community College, becoming an NJCAA Second Team All-American in 2022. Following the campaign, Reed transferred to SU, becoming a two-year starter at center.
Across his career with the Orange, Reed played in all but one contest, totaling 1,530 snaps. He notched a 55.1 Pro Football Focus grade in 2023 before improving to a 64.4 clip in 2024. The center thrived in pass protection, registering a 71.8 pass-blocking grade in 2023 and a 68.3 figure in 2024.
2024 was set to be Reed’s final year of collegiate eligibility before the NCAA approved his JUCO waiver. Now, the 6-foot-3, 316-pound center will finish his college career with the Trojans.
