Thomas wows with 40-yard dash time despite falling at finish
Former Syracuse safety Shamarko Thomas ran the 40-yard dash in 4.42 seconds at the NFL combine in Indianapolis, Ind. Tuesday afternoon.
Thomas slipped and tumbled to the ground at the finish line with his time already clocked. The 4.42-second time was good for fastest among all defensive backs. He was unofficially clocked at 4.38 for the attempt, and his official second time was 4.41 seconds.
NFL Draft Scout projects Thomas as a sixth or seventh-round pick and No. 209 overall.
He capped his four-year SU career with a first-team All-Big East selection, captaining the Orange with 88 total tackles, 6.8 per game, three forced fumbles, one recovered and two interceptions.
