Earl Sweatshirt to headline MayFest; Sound Remedy to open concert

CORRECTION: In a previous version of this article, the day of MayFest was incorrect. MayFest will take place on Friday, April 26. The Daily Orange regrets this error.

Rapper Earl Sweatshirt will headline MayFest in Walnut Park on Friday, April 26. Electronic music producer Sound Remedy will open the concert. University Union will announce the middle act at a later date.

The concert will start at 1 p.m. and lead into Block Party, featuring pop star Ke$ha, at 6:30 p.m. Entry is free for Syracuse University and State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry students. Graduate students and guest tickets will be available at the Schine Box Office on Monday for $21.50.

Earl Sweatshirt is a member of Odd Future and has appeared alongside label-mates Frank Ocean and Tyler, The Creator. The 19-year-old rap artist’s sophomore album, “Doris,” is slated for release later this year after his critically acclaimed debut, “Earl,” was released in 2010.

Sound Remedy, an electronic music producer hailing from Los Angeles, has garnered an online following for his remixes and beats. Red Bull MXT will also be hosting a DJ to play before the show and between set changes.

Free food, beverages and beer for attendees 21 and older will be available at the show with proof of valid ID.
