Car hits bicyclist at Irving Avenue, Van Buren Street intersection
A 2008 Chevy minivan struck a bicyclist at the intersection of Irving Avenue and Van Buren Street on Monday night, resulting in minor injuries to the bicyclist.
The accident occurred at about 5:20 p.m. when a 57-year-old woman driving attempted to make a right turn on red and struck a 39-year-old male riding a bicycle in the next lane, said Sgt. Gary Bulinski of the Syracuse Police Department.
The bicyclist was transported to Upstate University Hospital for possible foot injuries, while the automobile driver sustained no injuries, Bulinski said. No tickets were issued at the scene.
He added that the bicyclist’s injuries were minor and non-life threatening.
Neither of the individuals involved are affiliated with Syracuse University, Bulinski said. The bicyclist resides in Syracuse and the driver is a resident of Kirkville, N.Y.
