Maryland and Syracuse working on series, Terps’ coach Edsall says
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Syracuse and Maryland are working on a series for when UMD moves from the Atlantic Coast Conference to the Big 10 next year, Terrapins head coach Randy Edsall said at the ACC Football Kickoff on Monday.
Edsall was a quarterback for the Orange from 1976-1979 and served as an assistant coach in a variety of capacities from 1980-1990. His son, Corey, was a walk-on quarterback and punter at SU in 2011.
UMD is playing in its final season before it leaves for the Big 10 and Syracuse is in its first in the ACC. The two teams — two of the northernmost teams in the conference — will play Nov. 9, their only meeting as conference rivals. The Terps and the Orange will both play in the Atlantic Division this season and were picked by the media to finish fifth and sixth, respectively, at the ACC Football Kickoff.
SU head coach Scott Shafer will speak to the media at the ACC Kickoff at 5:09 p.m. on Monday.
