Syracuse will host Duke, College GameDay in Carrier Dome on Feb. 1
When Duke travels to the Carrier Dome for the first time on Feb. 1, the court could be moved to the center of the field and ESPN College GameDay will be in the building.
The College GameDay crew will travel to Syracuse for the fourth time since 2005 as the Orange hosts the Blue Devils in the Dome for the first time. SU is 3-0 in College GameDay games, beating Notre Dame in 2005, Louisville in 2006 and Villanova in 2010 — a game that set what was then the on-campus attendance record.
Syracuse could break the record again if officials decide to move the court to the center of the field.
The Carrier Dome currently holds the on-campus attendance record after 35,012 watched SU’s final Big East meeting with Georgetown last season.
This GameDay matchup could also be a potentially decisive one for Atlantic Coast Conference positioning and NCAA Tournament seeding. Led by head coach Mike Krzyzewski, Duke is again viewed as a national title contender. Syracuse, even after losing point guard Michael Carter-Williams, is expected to be one of the top teams in its new conference.
The Orange and the Blue Devils have split the all-time series with each team winning twice.
Duke will also be featured in the ACC’s other College GameDay matchup — the final one of the season, in Durham, N.C., when the Blue Devils host North Carolina on March 8.
