Juice Jam sells out of tickets, reaches maximum capacity
The highest-selling Juice Jam of all time sold out of tickets on Thursday.
The multi-stage, daylong music festival, which will be held on Sept. 8, has reached its capacity, with 9,500 tickets sold as of Thursday, University Union confirmed.
It beat the second-highest selling Juice Jam by 1,000 tickets, when the concert also sold out in 2012.
In years past, University Union has expanded the capacity of Juice Jam to allow more students to attend, but this year at 9,500 tickets sold, Juice Jam has reached its maximum capacity to keep in line with both the festival’s security and UU’s budget, UU public relations director Mitchell Mason said in an email.
“Since we sold out, it tells us at University Union that there is a high interest from students to attend the show,” he said. “While we cannot predict our budget and a detail for next year’s show, our hope is to make Juice Jam bigger and better in years to come.”
UU president Billy Ceskavich said in an email that the high amount of ticket sales were a great accomplishment for the University Union team.
“We strive to program events that cater to the interests of the entire student body,” he said. “To see one of our largest shows sell so well reaffirms that we are meeting the goals we set.”
This year the festival features platinum-selling rapper Kendrick Lamar, along with electronic music producer Nicky Romero and alternative rock band The Neighbourhood as separate acts on the main stage.
The festival will also include an additional indie stage featuring Smallpools, electronic dance musician DJ Robert DeLong and hip-hop artist Ab-Soul.
