2-star defensive tackle Harvey commits to Syracuse
Two-star defensive tackle Jalen Harvey has verbally committed to Syracuse, he confirmed via Twitter on Saturday.
Harvey is currently on his official visit and tweeted, “Seriously I’m done I’ve decided to sign with Syracuse on Wednesday.”
Wednesday is national signing day and Harvey plans to put the final punctuation mark on his recruiting journey. The 6-foot-2, 300-pound tackle from Pinson, Ala., was once verbally committed to Southern Alabama, but de-commited before recently pledging to Western Kentucky.
In the end, he chose the Orange over Western Kentucky — the only other school he officially visited — Boise State and Austin Peavy, among other schools, according to Scout.com.
Harvey joins Wayne Williams as the second defensive tackle to verbally commit to the Orange for 2014. He is the third defensive lineman in the class, alongside Williams and end Chris Slayton.
He is the 19th player to join SU’s Class of 2014.
“I’m excited to be a part of the family,” Harvey told The Daily Orange on Saturday, “and I can’t wait to play in the (Carrier) Dome.”
