Syracuse is ranked No. 24 in the preseason Associated Press poll, which was released Thursday. It’s the first time in program history that the Orange has garnered a preseason AP ranking. 

Along with Syracuse, four other Atlantic Coast Conference teams are ranked in the top 25. Notre Dame is ranked third, Duke is seventh, Maryland is ranked 10th and North Carolina is 13th.

The Orange is coming off season its first-ever NCAA tournament in 2013, when it defeated Chattanooga in the first round before losing to Kentucky in the round of 32.

Syracuse opens its season on Nov. 16 when it hosts Fordham in the Carrier Dome.
