Syracuse forward Rakeem Christmas' emergence as a reliable option on offense has continued, and he earned ACC Player of the Week honors for his two latest double-doubles.

Syracuse senior forward Rakeem Christmas has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Player of the Week, the conference announced in a release Monday afternoon. The conference also announced Virginia Tech guard Justin Bibbs as the ACC Rookie of the Week.

Christmas, who has been one of the conference’s most dynamic offensive players in the early season, collected double-doubles in wins over Colgate and Long Beach State last week.

Against the Raiders, Christmas tallied 16 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal. In an 85-67 win over the 49ers on Sunday, Christmas scored 24 points — one shy of his season- and career-high — and 10 rebounds. He was an efficient 8-for-11 from the field and line against Long Beach State, and is now averaging 17.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game on the season.

The Orange’s (8-4) next test will be against Cornell (6-6) at 6 p.m. in the Carrier Dome on Wednesday.
