Nancy Cantor announced she will step down as Syracuse University chancellor when her contract ends in June 2014 in an email sent to all students on Oct. 12.
Cantor became SU's 11th chancellor in 2004, and was the first female chancellor in SU's history. Her time was marked by lofty goals — the billion dollar campaign and cementing SU's status as an anchor institution — as well as challenges and criticisms, such as the shutting down of HillTV and Syracuse's slide in the U.S. News & World Report rankings.
